Aug. 2nd, 2004 04:01 pmOur week in Maine was unfortunately cut off by my father-in-law's desire to move the family patrimony of ten thousand boxes and pieces of furniture from the storage space in Ellsworth to our garage and attic. This created stress and upset and culminated in three grown men attempting to pull a piano up a set of stairs in the middle of the night. One of the grown men being myself. The 12:30 bedtime was followed by 2 am, 4 am, and 5:45 am baby wake times.
But I am sitting at the antique dining room table looking at the piano, the secretary, the wicker furniture, and the sun room table. And before we left we went wireless, so I am doing it down here. And I just got the AirTunes thing to play music from this computer out to the stereo, wirelessly. And it is all... pleasant.
---------------
One brief thought, to be further elaborated upon when I get a moment: I am reading The Death and Life of Great American Cities, by Jane Jacobs. It tells you everything you ever wondered about why cities grow and decline and all that. It is the bee's knees. It is one of those life-changing books. Really.
