Typical me
Oct. 17th, 2003 10:16 amSo I have a bigass copyediting project due today. Except that I didn't finish it last night as I should because I was up listening to a certain pathetic, doomed sporting franchise blow its lead inevitably away. Before that I was entering in corrections to an article, but I was distracted and forgot to turn on the "Track Changes" option in Word, so an hour and a half's worth of work was for nothing. I was reentering them this morning and got to page 28 when the screen froze and the file became corrupted somehow, invalidating another half hour's worth of work.
Of course it may well all be for nothing because the ms. has so many problems, from things they only sent me in hard copy, to Word files that are garbled, to files only in WordPerfect (which I can't read). So they may well tell me not to bother with it until they send me better files. But the woman isn't answering her phone, and I bet she's out today. So I have to try to finish what I can.
This is all on top of staying up until 12:30 listening to the aforementioned inevitable loss, and getting up at 6:00 this morning to beat willow leaves on the ground, among other bizarre ancient agricultural rituals (don't ask). And my parents are coming in this afternoon, so we must engage in the usual frenzy of cooking and house- and baby-cleaning.
I could really use a break...

Date: 2003-10-17 11:18 am (UTC)I had about 6 classes back-to-back today. Mostly 9th graders. And in Friday dress. And open house is Sunday, so the place has to be ship-shape. Plus the real estate. There is not enough time in a day to do what I must do. I also could use a break. good grief.
