small world
Apr. 20th, 2004 11:11 pmI saw a few days ago that
sethg_prime had friended me. I started reading his journal, which is leftie and Jewish, and I am in the mood for that kind of mix these days -- especially the leftie part -- and exploring. And I start looking idly at pictures. And start squinting a little. Hey. I know these people.
sethg_prime's journal is linked to
gnomi and mentions some other people I have met at J. and A.'s place in Boston. A. being someone I know well for about 15 years or so. Actually went to my prom with, and is well known to my old friends who read this. Heck,
flw actually went with me to visit her in Cleveland once. And I do believe that
sethg_prime and I met at said J. and A.'s place in Brighton once. At the very least I met some other people he mentions as friends at their place.
How did
sethg_prime decide to read my journal? I believe through seeing my posts in a community and/or seeing me as a friend of
chanaleh, who I found through an interest search a while ago. I haven't actually met
chanaleh, but it would seem that there are a couple of people on my friendslist who have, including a couple I know IRL, which means that she might actually know a couple of my bona fide friends IRL. (Also there is someone I went to grad school with and still keep in touch with who belongs to her shul and knows who she is.)
Neither J. nor A. seem to actually have one of these here LJs, but surely it can't be long.
It's just a little weird, this virtual community thing. It also makes me feel a slight twinge about having left Boston just before discovering all these people. Things could have been so different... ah well.
None of yunz are coming to Providence any time soon by chance, are you? By "yunz" I mean "anyone who happens to be reading this."

Date: 2004-04-21 08:48 am (UTC)And as for available Shabbats -- Fri nights and Sat mornings, it's hard, of course; I'm usually gabbai'ing/leyning (respectively) when I don't have another major conflict already preventing me from being there! A Sat afternoon could be workable though. *checks calendar* Um, starting sometime after Memorial Day. :-} Maybe a Sunday afternoon?
