Would someone please do the universe a favor and haul Rachael Ray's superfluous "a" and her psychotic, leering visage off of: my television, my Triscuits, my Stone Wheat Thins, my library, every magazine in my checkout lane, the magazines on every other checkout lane in the store, my newspaper, my bookstore, the god damn children's section of the bookstore. I understand wanting to cash out on her five minutes, but this woman obviously enrolled in the Charles M. Schulz School of Merchandising Overexposure. We finally got Mothra Stewart to go away... for this?

I have to deal with her several times a day (she is quite a common query on Google).

tiny state.

Don't be sorry... DO SOMETHING about it!

I find it hard to believe you can't find a good bagel in Rhode Island. It must be neat to be in a state the size of a county.

It is neat to be in a place where you can really know the whole thing. Although it is remarkable how such a small place can contain so much diversity -- forests, bay, swamps, beach, cities, small towns, etc. It feels bigger than it is.

In general tastes here are defined by the omnipresence of Dunkin Donuts, which makes bagels that are soft and sweet and generally do the trick. They're more like Lender's Bagels than real bagels, though. When you want a real bagel for breakfast, though, you want something more like New York. There must be such a place around here; we just haven't looked that hard yet.

Ah well...

Just a word of advice... keep the bagel complaining to say, one post a year. One post a year, until you hit sixty. At sixty, you can let loose... bagel complaining 24/7. Until then try to keep the indy rock to bagel complaint ratio as high as humanly possible.

What, did I complain about it before? I don't think I did. Mostly because I am generally agnostic when it comes to bagels. Some people are maniacs on the subject.

No, no, you haven't before, and let's keep it that way. Not that I am not interested, I am interested. In a peripheral way, in as much as it leads to discussions of geography and commercialization and standardization of malls and the malling of america and all that... And the standardization of products, all that interests me. It's just complaining about bagels is something for old men to do. You should be complaining about the bouncer not letting you into the club because you don't have an ID.

I wish there were a terse way to say this, but I agree fully with the entire passion of my body, mind, and soul. She is a scourge only to be matched by Dr. Phil, an obese walrus who is currently shamelessly promoting (of all things) a diet book. OOF.

Dr. Phil is annoying, but at least he is not on every box of crackers in the store and there's no "Kid's Cooking with Dr. Phil" in the bookstore. On the other hand, his ubiquity is probably destined to last longer, since he is slightly less overexposed.

BTW: how come you haven't "friended" me? No pressure, but I have to go through my list from time to time to try to figure out who hasn't friended me after I update the list. You can just screen me out of things you don't want me to read, if you have any of them.

A few years ago I knew someone who admitted to a crush on Rachael Ray. I think he's rather embarrassed about it now.
