...but the real reason I loathe exercise is that the music just sucks.

And another thing is the subtle infiltration of aerobics music into every nook and cranny of public life, because God forbid anything should be blaring out at you from the TVs in the airport but Happy Music! We're All Excited! Wooo!

Are you objecting to a specific genre of music or just anything that has a rapid beat? There's no law that says you can't work out while wearing earplugs, but if you want to try to perform HIIT while listening to "Pachelbel's Canon" or whatever, all I can say is, good luck with that.

Some of the examples in the article are examples of aerobics music, or rather, pop examples of the mindless techno background music in which somoene programmed a few bleeps into the keyboard and hit "repeat."

As far as what would help me exercise, something close to blissful silence would be nice, which is probably one reason I like swimming. But "exercise music" only makes me hate exercising.

I hate it too. There is nothing worse than listing to some 90's techno crap at full blast when you're essentially trying to relax. I love swimming although I do have to take a tram to my 2nd closest swimming pool (I hate my 1st closest)

At least you have a tram to get to it, which is kind of cool.
