Oct. 5th, 2001 08:26 amI think that what I was getting at in the "Why Do They Hate Us?" issue was summed up by this article by Tom Friedman, which I don't agree with 100% but makes some good points. Actually, the same kind of point was made, with more subtlety and deadpan cleverness, by this piece in The Onion. It nicely skewers the nauseating cultural cant about "the children, the children" that recurs at times like these.
Decided to take a day for myself yesterday-- explored Jamaica Plain and went downtown to buy Railroad Tycoon II. A bad idea, because I still have a lot to do, but now I am playing it and of course time has no meaning. You will be assimilated.
