Found out my friend Kenneth's mother just died, after suffering a long time from lung cancer. I haven't seen Ken in years or even got email from him in something like a year and a half, but growing up and in high school I was over at their house practically every day.

i had a similar situation happen last may. i found out that my best friend in junior high and high school... well her father died unexpectedly. he was only in his 50s.
i practically lived at their house during that time of my life. which i've always felt were my most impressionable years. i was devastated at the news. and devastated still that i'm in kansas and they're in california. and had to offer my condolences in forms of cards, flowers, and telephone calls.
i'll always regret not being able to attend the funeral.
he was a special man.
