I just typed in an interest search for "Sealab 2021" and found 77 people list it already! I had no idea this was such a big deal.

In the past few months I have been meaning to move away from television. The cable is an expense, and there was nothing really that we were watching anyway except channel-flipping and stuff on broadcast channels. So every two weeks I would pick up the cable bill and think about it. Then Mrs. Sanpaku got bitten by the exercising bug and started getting up to exercise with Gilead on the Health Network, so there's no point screwing that up. Then I started doing the remote editing and thinking about getting a DSL. And these people from RCN came to my neighborhood offering cable modem, cable, and phone service all through a cable line, and it's less than we pay for cable+dialup+Verizon, and free installation.

Now I got a superfast modem and no more blocking phone calls, and I love it. Then the cable came with about a million new channels: eight flavors of HBO, Cinemax, Sundance Channel, MTV2, etc. etc. Also a little TV guide thing that pops up and tells you what's on for the next three days. This is very bad, because at virtually every hour of the day at least something is on that you could kill time watching... some movie that you idly thought of renting a few months ago, some TV show that's sort of all right. I have already seen the video of the monkeys with peoples' faces, playing guitars, 3 times already on MTV2, a really excellent time waster. And if you get bored of television there's 50 channels of digital music. Oh, and then there's the new DVD player! So it's actually sort of overwhelming.

Woke up at 3am on Sunday. Of course it had to be the coldest friggin' night of the year (since last winter, anyway), in the mid-20s. But pretty damn neat to see those meteors. We watched for about 45 minutes until our bones couldn't take the chill anymore.

Went to Providence and then down to Newport yesterday. Finally saw the mansions. Enjoyable, in a life-before-the-revolution kind of way.

I got an interview for a job that I have very mixed feelings about. More on that in a while.
