So tonight begins the journal as well as my final attempt to finish my dissertation. So that is why I won't be writing too much. Nevertheless I figure it is worth saying at some point that it is damn difficult to be a creative person when you are doing this kind of academic writing. I will elaborate on this as I do more journal stuff. I kept a journal once, years ago, and its only purpose was to gripe about women and suchlike, and so once I had moved on from that phase of existence I found I wasn't writing in it much. I also became much less creative as all that agita and angst went away that is so essential to doing things in life aside from what you are handed in the morning.
I muse on this because now that I am almost done with a project that has dominated my life for six years is ending I might actually have some free time. Time to finish that awful novel I started writing, or to learn the guitar, or whatever. But probably more like time to play Age of Empires until I am thoroughly disgusted with it and myself. That is what it means to grow up.
