sanpaku_backupThis business with the leak and the heater is making me do stupid things like turn the heat off for 2 days... Raced home on Wednesday evening convinced that the house had frozen and the pipes had burst. Didn't happen but the house was pretty damn cold.
Everyone keeps asking me, "So are you excited about your trip to San Francisco?" And the answer really is, no, it is becoming more and more of a pain in the ass as things get closer. Because of Mrs. S.'s job I need to leave home at 7:45 on Thursday, take the commuter rail, fart around Providence for a while, take a bus to the Providence airport, get on a plane at 2:25, have a 3 hour layover in Chicago, and not get to San Jose until about midnight my time... then up early and jet-lagged the next morning to take CalTrain into San Fran, where I didn't realize until yesterday is nowhere near where the convention is... oh it's going to be fun. And I don't have any interviews in hand, which means the whole trip is probably a big waste of time and money.
Anyway. Tonight we are going to some First Night things and then popping to J & A's late. I will be happy to say goodbye to this stinking shithole of a horrible year, horrible for just about everyone I know. Every year has its points, and to be honest things could be a lot worse than they are now. I guess only a really bad year makes you appreciate that fact. So... that's all the coherence I can muster right now.
