So we're watching Lord of the Rings and I'm there rolling my 20 sided die along with everyone else... It's near the end of the movie and that guy, the one who's got the beard...
No, wait, anyway. That guy says, "Let's go hunt some Orc."
And Mrs. Sanpaku turns to me and says
"The other white meat!"
This, truly, is why I married her.

Just think about it, for a second.

Anyway, rented Wet Hot American Summer, which I badly wanted to like. However, it was truly only so-so, although there were some very funny moments. I found myself musing on the fact that for some reason, once, people put stripes on sweat socks. Then, for some reason, they decided they didn't like that. Who decides this stuff? So it was that kind of film. It made you think more about being of a certain age and at summer camp in the early 1980s. Heck, one of the subplots involved Skylab, and I was actually in summer camp when Skylab came down. They had us do a treasure hunt for foil things, like they came from Skylab.

So, yeah. The movie made me feel old. Bummer. Also, I think that to get that movie, you had to know a lot of whatever movies they were referencing, like Porky's and Hardbodies and G.O.R.P., and I never saw any of those movies, and I bet no other self-respecting wiseass did, either. So it's no mystery that the film sank without a trace after being out for about a day and a half.

Also rented You Can Count on Me, which I thought was not bad, though depressing, without really being a depressing movie. It was depressing because it made you think about Life and all that. But that can't be helped.

I really liked You Can Count on Me. I just really like character driven movies. It's like reading for when you're lazy.
