Yes, it is 2 am, and I suppose that what I write here will be moderately more coherent than in the 10,000 words I would be trying to crank out on National Imagery in the Early Republic. This is the last module I am writing for my old company, and I have absolutely no time to do it in. It is supposed to be in on Monday. That is just not going to happen.

So I have been in this house for 5 weeks now and it is still just a constant race day and night to finish what I said I would do. Teaching, copyediting, writing, editing... big swirls of days completely filled with nothing but work, work, work.

Nevertheless we have found ways to be much more social since moving here. Have seen my sister in law a lot, several Boston people, made some new friends at the shul, and have had a LOT of people over for lunch or dinner in the past few weeks. So that part of the plan has worked nicely.

In the moments that I am not terrified that something will cause my Ponzi scheme work life to collapse, I am conscious of being pretty happy, actually. But the terror is pretty profound. Board work comes first, then teaching, then anything else with a hard date -- and the module date is the softest of the options out there. With this one, I know that they are planning for it and probably need it pretty badly because they have already pitched it to teachers, so if I am late with it, they are the ones who are fucked. Perhaps they deserve it, but anyway, I need to be done with all this already.

Because holy jeebus there's a you know what on the way.

Our friends from Boston were here yesterday with 3 kids under the age of 5. I do not know how they handle life like that 24/7. And their kids are basically just rambunctious, even relatively good-natured.

So the goal is to "clear the board" of all extraneous work over the next 3 weeks, as I suspect that I am not going to have a lot of unstructured time after that. Yet this has failed to happen and I am generally beginning to go insane.

Well, I have more profound thoughts about a lot of things, but I think now it is time to sleep.

Oh, I suspect you have a nice window coming up sometime around September 2020 :)
