sanpaku_backupI know I owe everyone an update on the excitement of not trying to go insane when the baby feels like screaming for an hour at two in the morning....
But in lieu of that, do please check out this wonderful article by Louis Menand about sociobiology from this week's New Yorker.
Once upon a time, in my collegiate days, I was quite passionate about attacking the garbage that is sociobiology and even wrote something long and involved about it for the college paper. Menand, who I already love anyway for The Metaphysical Club, states my POV much more eloquently than I ever managed. And as a bonus, Pinker, who is a very sloppy and dangerous guy, is eviscerated into a fine white powder.
Menand might one day displace Garry Wills from the top of my personal pantheon. We'll see.
