Why do people insist on having stupid, worthless pennies?

Personally I use the dollar coins whenever I can get them. I have been known to buy stamps in a vending machine and get $12 in dollar coin change. But of course they are the only place you can get ahold of the coins. The only way people will start using them is if the government stops making bills, which is what they had to do in Britain.

For a short period last year, before I left the 'Burgh, I carried only metal money. It was fun to show up at a gig and hand the guy 4 Sacajaweas and 2 JFKs. It pissed people off. So, it was fun. This guy, Dan Barstool, always asks me if I am still doing that. Unfortunately, it wears holes in your pockets. But it is fun for awhile. You value the money more too. It has weight.

do you really know womebody named Dan Barstool, or is that a nickname, like Joe Bag a Donuts? Because there is a store called Mr. Barstool here in Northern Liberties (Which I saw referred to in the NYT as like SoHo in the 70's). Anyway, every time I go by Mr. Barstool I make up a little lounge song about it.

His name is Dan Baselj. Which to me seems like Dan Beselyeh. But he insistes that the name is Barshell. Which seems like a "gym-teacherization" to me.

I love the Mr. Barstool song. It sounds like a genuinely depressing place. I have stopped going to bars entirely. I get so very depressed in bars. They are so dank, dark and loud.
