Just what I've always wanted. The oft-mentioned but seldom-heard William Shatner version of "Hey, Mister Tambourine Man." It does not disappoint.

I sometimes wonder when someone will write a science fiction story about space aliens coming to earth after the world ends and using the Internet to recreate every tiny facet of human culture, because man, it's all out there, every last freaking bit of it.

Shatner is the purest demonstration of my theory that competence and confidence are inversely proportionate. Now if I could just get my confidence quantifier to work, I could make a graph. I think it's the filter pass capacitor at junction 35.

I like to think about the producers egging the Shat on during the making of that record. "Are you sure guys? I mean, should I be so ... dynamic?"

"Yes, Bill. Give it your all!"

"Lucy ... in the ... ... sky? WITH DIA-MONDS!"

The background singers are so blase that I wonder whether they were in the same room with him, or whether it wasn't some kind of karaoke deal where he "sang" over their tracks. But if they were in the same room with him... can you imagine having to keep a straight face?

He must have figured, if overacting got me this far, give the people what they want...
