Jan. 29th, 2003 10:59 amThe Mrs. is going home to Long Island from tomorrow evening until some time next week. It just doesn't make much sense for me to go with her, for work-related reasons and house-space reasons down there. However, she is taking the car, because the baby requires so much stuff for any traveling.
So I am not sure what I will do with my time. The visit to the dentist reminds me that I am dangerously close to Having All My Shit Together, for once -- I'm close to being "caught up" on my various bureaucratic projects; even the taxes are mostly figured out (I had to get a head start on them to do the estimations on my consulting).
I have plenty of research that I can do, but I need access to microfilm, and the only good place to get it is at Kingston. URI is located in one of the more inaccessible parts of the state, and the bus takes a long time to get down there. Most of my work will have to be done on Sunday, and the infrequency of the buses means I will be there for either much too long or much too short a period of time. I wish I could do it at Brown, but they don't let non-Brown people into their building and it'll cost me $50 for a pass. (I had a very unpleasant moment with the librarian at URI when she told me I couldn't get a Brown pass from them because I'm not adjuncting this semester. Basically, I was too honest about it.)
So that's one day. I'm trying to figure out what to do the rest of the time. Walking a lot is a good candidate. I am trying to figure out the bus schedules so as to wander aimlessly around the streets of College Hill on Saturday night. It's supposed to be warmer here by then.
